1. Intro "Illicit Transmissions Across the Globe"
Featuring samples from Prince, Missy and other stuff.
2. The Who vs. The Vogues "Relax it's 5 o' clock"
The pella's the Who track "Relax" from their fab and groovy "Who Sell Out" album, the music's a mix of the Vogues' "5 o'clock World" (this was covered by Julian Cope a few years back) and a few odd bits of organ and guitar from the Who. It's a little short vignette to ease you in really and you might notice a bit of Madge in there as well...ha....ha.
3. Martha & the Vandellas vs. Groove Armada "I SeeYou Runnin' Nowhere"
These two go pretty well I think. The Martha pella's "Nowhere To Run" a total classic (thanks to mashers friend The Corporation. The music is Fatboy Slim's remix of Groove Armada's "I see you Baby" as if you didn't know.
4. Nina Sky vs. The Human League "Move Yer Fascinating Body"
Yes it that Nina Sky thingy "Move Your Body" a jolly little tune, supplying the vocal interest. It fits nicely with The Human League's "Keep Feeling Fascination" . That's a cut up of the 12" extended version if you'd like to know, wicked track get it if you haven't already. Couple of lines from Reel 2 Reel in there too to keep things on a "Move" theme.
5. Interlude 1 "No one Cares, Do What You Like"
The first of my little linkings sections, there's a few dotted throughout the mix. This one features a vocal sample from the "Tonite Let's all Make Love In London" soundtrack , some sort of swinging 60's documentary I think. It's a dolly bird talking about having a good time........ didn't they all.
6. Tina Turner vs. Stevie Wonder & the Glitterbeat "Contact Higher"
Right now this is an interesting one. The vocal is from an obscure Ike and Tina Turner track called "Contact High" a rifftastic two chord job about taking drugs and getting stoned at a party, great subject matter what. If you wan't to get the original you can find it on a prog rock compilation called "Scorched Earth" (available on cd) or you can hunt out an old copy of Ike & Tina's "Come Together" album. Tina was cool once you know. The drums are....well.... he who must not be mentioned's band giving us that famous rhythm, coupled with the main riff from Stevie's "Higher Ground". Extra synth by the Booj.
7. Amerie vs. Lil Louis "French Touch"
Well at least it's not "1 Thing" eh. That's the pella from "Touch" by Amerie, music (or should I say riff) from Lil Louis' "French Kiss". I love that record. Extra production (that's drums and synths to you) by yours truly.
8. Interlude 2 "I Met a Girl"
Another short link here featuring filtered Jacksons riff (you know what it is) and a line from the Black Eyed Peas taking you into................
9. Boojiboy Jnr "Synthetic Genetic"
Hey folks it's a Boojiboy original (sort of). I love acid house, and 303's in particular, so this is my 303 track, I hope you like it. The vocal sample is from the Last Poets, a track called "Mean Machine" from their "Jazzoetry" album. Guitar from Chairmen of the Board's "Everybody Party All Night", Missy coppin' that shit and hey...isn't that C&C Music Factory.
10. Christina Aguilera vs. Donna Summer "Can't Hold Love Down"
Ah yes Giorgio I love that German disco beat. Simple one this, Christina's "Cant Hold Us Down" vox mashed with Donna Summer's "I Feel Love". Guest appearance by Captain Beef heart (what..........) and hey....isn't that C&C Music factory.
11. Sugababes vs. The Temptations "Round and Round the Land"
Whaddaya know it's in the same key. Simple one again, the Sugababes "Round, Round" vocal (just getting away with the re-eqing here I hope). Music from the Temps, or is that Norman Whitfield and "Law of the Land".
12. Interlude 3 "Go On Playing. Must Have Music"
This is probably as quiet as it's gonna get here peeps. Lots of guest appearances, let's see...we have good old Donna Summer again, singing "I Feel Love" this time. Noel Coward and Gertrude Lawrence who were obviously heavily into their clubbing by the sound of this. The odd Kraftwerk riff and hey.......isn't that Peter Wyngarde the well loved thespian and creator of that dandyish lover man Jason King (you've gotta get his album it's absolutely un-freakin'-believable). Maddy and Yes........well that should do nicely.
13. Dana Gillespie vs. Fine Young Cannibals "I'm Dead Crazy"
Whoa obscure 60's chanteuse alert maaaan. The vocal is From Dana Gillespie 60's babe and friend of the stars, it's a track called "Dead" who could resist that title. This appears on an ultra collectable album called Foolish Seasons, it's fab and well worth checking out. The musical accompaniement is from the Fine Young Cannibals' remixed version of "She Drives Me Crazy" featuring Monie Love...and that's her rappin' there. Oh...you might recognise the string part.
14. Missy Elliot vs. David Bowie "She's a Queen Bitch"
OK...OK...I know the pella's bleedin' ancient, but I can't believe nobody's done this (or maybe they have......oh who cares this is my mix album anyway). Straight as a die Missy's "She's a Bitch" over Bowie's "Queen Bitch" cut up to hell and re-made by me. Enjoy.
15. Ciara vs. Public Image Ltd "Ciara..ing"
Or "Keep taking the Pils Ciara"....ha.....ha. Vocals by crunk queen Ciara and "Oh (featuring Ludicrous.....)" meeting the dubby musical delights of PIL (well Jah Wobble anyway) and a track from the Metal Box album "Careering". Extra wobbly noises, synth and drums by me. Swings along I think.
16. Interlude 4 "Blast Off"
And so we head into outer space courtesy of Alexis Korner and Robert Calvert (it's the Hawkwind connection you know).
17. Hawkwind vs. Ike & Tina Turner vs. Boojiboy Jnr "Nutbush Silver Machine"
Oh how we laughed. Well now here's the thing, this was originally going to be a straight mash of the vocals from Hawkwind's "Silver Machine" and the music from Ike & Tina's "Nutbush City Limits" but when I first tried it, it sounded shit (hopefully it still doesn't sound shit) had to pitch it too far you know. Then I thought what the hell, why don't I turn it into some sort of electro-pop remix. Yeah sounds cool, I'll add some of my own beats and bleepy synth and hey...lets chuck in the Ike & Tina bits anyway, they're a bit wobbly but I kinda like it......hmmm sounds interesting. What next.......I know half way through I'll go into this psychedelic Can loop thing....yeah that's great, kickin'. Now all I've got to do is get back into the 2 nd half of the song......ooops. I spent a day trying to make this work but everything I touched turned to dung. What to do, well I've got a good two and a half minutes of song there so why don't I just whack into.....................
18. Lady Sovereign vs. Can "Mother Ching"
Now that's more like it a bangin' way to bring my big mash to a close. This is the 'pella from Lady Sovereign's "Chi Ching" (not the whole vocal, just chunks cut up) which is my fave track of hers, along with a few 'tings from the instrumental version of the song. Mashed with the awesome and I mean awesome Can (I love Jaki) using various drum bits from their equally awesome "Mother Sky" from the Soundtracks album. PLAY LOUD.
19. Outro "The Aliens Are Coming, Goodbyeee"
Ah and so we reach the end of our journey, what a long strange trip it's been. I hope you've enjoyed my little offering it only leaves Peter Cook and Dudley Moore (old English comedians......very funny actually) to wish you a fond goodbye.
Until the next time..........keep watching the skies.
